Activities to reset your brain rot

In the era of today we are always swiping and moving to the point where our life look like the blur of trees passing by. It seems like we never take a moment to settle down and see the world. Here is my gift to you, a list of screen free activities you can do to take a break from doom scrolling. Lets make memories we will remember when we look up from them.

Explore Art: There are so many beatuiful things you are missing out on. Many areas have local art showings every week where artists and the like are open to mingle and network.

Not only can you look at art you can also look into making art. Check around and see what classes are happening in your local area. Sign up for a sculpting or painting class. You don’t need to be good at art to do it you. Every famous author today started with a scribble on a page.

Start a Reading Goal

Join a book club or set a personal reading goal. If your reading goal is 30 books, read 30 pages a day to meet your goal. Try to read things that people are not talking about. Door Step Monthly caters to underrated books and they tend to have a good selection of thoughtful and culture impacting books.

I have been on Goodreads for Years now but a new platform Fable has a trendy user face and is really like no other reading app. You know those moments where you are looking for a new book to read but it seems like everyone is posting/reading the same thing. Fable has this interface that brings back to feel of discovering a books. It the twitter for book explorers.

Get into Gardening or Plants: Whether you have a lawn you can uproot or a small apartment having plants around can brigthen your mood. You can grow fruit and veggies from grocery store waste or go to the plant store for flowers. The excitement of seeing your little plants grow is beyond words.

Experiment with cooking: Try a new recipe or a cusine form another culture. My favorite activity in the kitchen is to make dishes from my favorite place or things I tend to buy a lot of.

Puzzles:

I have never been more engaged than when it was me against a 500 jig-saw piece puzzle. I love set and finishing my puzzles into wall art. My favorite jig-saw puzzles are from Piecework Puzzle. Not into jig-saw, ry some paper puzzles like crosswords, sudoko, or word searches.

Read History: There are many novel out there are historic and entertaining. History has the best stories to be told. Some of my favorites are those about people like Shakespeare or “The Wager that tells a story about a British company shipwreck that involved mutiny and a trail.

Go for a Run: I am going to assume you are a beginner to running to just tell you start off slow. Sometimes when I am feeling a little agansty I will go out and run for 10 minutes. Five running where ever my heart takes me and five to run back home to my couch

Journal: You don’t need a fancy book or pen or some goal to write down. Journaling in its true form is a conversation with one’s self. There will be days you have eight pages of words and other where you have two lines. Journaling is all about preserving your human experience

Take Online Course: My favorite online courses to check out are free course posted on Ivy Leagues’ websites. To find the courses just search “free ______ classes” in your search engine. They provide course on math, economics, history, and so much more.

Host a Movie Night: There is nothing more heart warming than watching a really bad movies with friends. Bad movies are the best for commentary and make the evening.

Yoga or Mediation: Take a moment to feel the muscles in your body shift as you stretch. I find it especially calming to think how much your body fights to keep you alive everyday, pumping blood to engulfing viruses.
